Charming Bedlam Farm

I am a huge fan of the author Jon Katz.  Guess what?  He writes about dogs, sheep, donkeys, chickens, cows, cats, etc.  That is why I adore him.  I just discovered his farm journal entries about his farm in upstate New York and wanted to share with everyone.  It is http://www.bedlamfarm.com

Every time I read one of his books my soul and mind travels through the pages, never wanting to come to the end of the book.   I am transported onto the farm, deep in the mud, running with the dogs, tending to the sheep, laughing at the donkeys and falling in love with the farm.  As I finish one of his books, I sit, smile, ponder, and I am so grateful for people like Jon and his simple values and outlook on life.  It confirms my craziness about my love for animals and I know am not alone… it feels good to know I am among passionate crazy critter people!

I hope you will enjoy http://bedlamfarm.com and it will inspire you to read his books.  Enjoy!

Wiener Dog Races

Early this morning flashed across the TV screen was an inspirational story.  It tugged right at my heart strings.  There is a paralyzed dachshund who has competed for quite a few years in the yearly wiener dog races.  He usually comes in last, but it is his determination and spirit that brought tears to my eyes.  Check it out at http://network.bestfriends.org/texas/news/14695.html  Scroll all the way to the bottom to see this swet little guy.

Years ago these poor little animals were put down if they developed back problems, but now with the help of wheels they can live a quality life.  I know for me personally, and my Frankie girl being in wheels or as we call them tires, she has brought blessings beyond measure to my life.  Every day she inspires me to be the best and to continue to roll on with life.  Such are the beautiful lessons we can learn from our animals.

Happy 4th of July!

HAPPY 4th of July!!

Frankie took part in helping out the “Friends of the Library” by selling Book Drop Cookies to people awaiting on the side-lines to watch the parade.  Our local parade was held on Sunday, July 1st.  I may be a bit partial because I live here, but I think our parade is spectacular!  And what a treat to have the UW Wisconsin marching band as part of our parade this year… it was thrilling!

Frankie greeted parade goers with her usual sweet personality as John and I sold cookies to help raise money for our local library.  People can’t help but want to pet her when they see her decked out in her red, white and blue bandanna and her basket decorated with stars and sparklers.

Frankie and I wish each of you truly special day today!  We feel so fortunate to be a part of this country and have the freedom to pursue our dreams.
