Meet Pixie- Another Recipient of The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

This is Pixie!  Isn’t she cute?  This is what her mom Sheila had to say:

Pixie is 3 1/2 yrs old. She was diagnosed with IVDD. We have a cat in the house also and they loved to chase each other and play. Since she was injuried she was not able to run around and chase him like she use to do. She tried so hard to do that. So she was drag herself around as much as she could to play. After she could not walk any longer Sammie the cat would lay in the floor with her and hug her. They are so sweet together. Now since she received her wheels she is chasing him around again and playing like before. She loves to have her wheels on and play. Like I said,  I can not thank you enough for Frankie’s fund and Eddie’s Wheels for all the help we have received.

I just can’t thank everyone enough.  -Sheila

Keep on rolling, Pixie!  We love you!

As always…A special thank you to Frankie fan’s who made this possible with so many wonderful and generous donations!!!  We could not have done it without you.

Each Day is Another Step Towards the Next Step on Our Journey

A pontoon boat ride around Elkhart Lake last night was a perfect way to reflect and look forward to the continued journey

I realize that each day is really another day in which we take towards another step in our evolution to what we have come here to accomplish.  But it was quite evident to me  today as I completed another chapter in the editing phase of Through Frankie’s Eyes  after receiving the edits back this week from copy editor, Dana.

I had not read through my manuscript since Frankie passed in June. With the manuscript before me it was time to move through the pages and accept and take note of Dana’s suggested changes. I didn’t realize as I began that this would be another step in my healing. What I’ll call the second half of my manuscript, which is about  my journey with Frankie,  I found myself often blowing my nose and wiping away the tears as I went through the edits on those particular pages.

I’ve had many wonderful memories of Frankie flood my mind the last six weeks, but how fascinating I found it to read what I had written with it all laid out just as the years had occurred. I cried, I smiled, I laughed, and I wished I could hold Frankie and do this all over again… but most of all I feel so lucky to have been the “chosen one.”  The one chosen to walk the path I did with Frankie, and to learn all that I did during our time together.

And though I’d give anything to have Frankie in my arms again, I have found a deep peace and understanding that she somehow knew when the time was right to move on. Though I believe strongly we will always be connected, I am beginning to feel ready to love another little one again.  I’m turning the corner.. and I know Frankie is behind this decision 100%.

My promise made to John is that I will wait until October 10th, after vacation, to begin my search. So I’ve put my specifications and intentions out into the Universe knowing that all will line up as it is meant to be.  And yes, I’ve asked for another little wheelie dog to come into my life.  A girl.  Short red hair and between the ages of 4-6 (give or take) with a gentle, sweet and loving personality.

I’m ready to take the next step in my journey and having my book to work on helps me… though I’m not exactly sure what other steps I will take.  A few weeks ago a friend asked what my future plans are and I said I wasn’t quite sure.  She said, “Oh, you are marinating.” I like that!  So yes, I am marinating and shall continue to trust that when the marinating process is done I’ll know without question where I am to go from here.

National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day Celebration with Lovey Loaves Special Needs Animal Sanctuary

When I created National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day just a few short weeks ago part of my vision was that animal sanctuaries and shelters around the world would embrace it and celebrate it.  So I was thrilled when Cheri and Ward Wells of Lovey Loaves contacted me, excited about doing just that.  It is so heartwarming to meet others with the same passion as I in sharing the good news that dogs in wheelchairs can live long, happy, quality lives.

So if you happen to live in the Orlando, FL area you can help not only support National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day, but you can also support Lovey Loaves and all the special work they do to find special needs pets forever homes.  All the details for this event provided in the flyer above.  Please feel free to share this flyer and information with others you may know in that part of the country.

Also we will be celebrating this special day worldwide via the powerful help of the internet so please stay tuned for details.  Hint:  We will sponsor a photo contest, so start taking pictures of your sweet dogs.  Prizes will sponsored by Lovey Loaves, Dachshund Delights and me.  You won’t want to miss this.  You can watch our Facebook page to stay up to date.

Another very exciting thing is happening too that has to do with special needs pets, National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day and that is an interview I’ve been asked to do with a very special lady.  I’ll announce that as soon as I can– but the interview will be happening mid-September!

PS:  There is still time to order one of the limited edition t-shirts if you want to support our effort in raising funds to help dogs in need get wheelchairs which was established in Frankie’s memory called, The Frankie Fund.  All proceeds from t-shirts are donated to Eddie’s Wheels for The Frankie Fund.  T-shirts are only available through Sept. 12, 2012.  To date I’m so honored, that with the help of others and this fund, we have been able to help six dogs get their wheels!!
