dachshund gifts

To Whom it May Concern.

20140824_124608Someone was awfully sneaky around our house early Friday evening.  John and I were outside on our deck enjoying an adult beverage. When I went in the house to refresh my beverage, I saw a bag hanging on the handle of the front door. I can’t believe the “gift bandit” didn’t get caught!

Tucked inside was this pretty dachshund scarf and colorful wiener dog cup. So, to whom it may concern I say a big thank you. I guess it is pretty obvious I adore dachshunds. To have this scarf and cup as part of my collection makes me smile. I especially love having the cup as my water glass now. Hard not to smile every time I take a sip of water!

As for my joyful pause moment photos this week, oh boy, did I slack on that this past week!  There have been many good things going on, so I guess I will just use the excuse that it was a joyful pause week.  But here are two moments I did capture. I see we now have a theme along with the scarf and cup!

Bean Goods Partners with the Frankie Wheelchair Fund with their “Rolling with the Homie’s” tote bag!

Screen_shot_2014-02-17_at_3.16.20_PMI’m so very excited to share this wonderful announcement!  The company Bean Goods will donate 100% of the profit of each of these durable, fun, tote bag’s to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund. This will be an on-going partnership which I’m so very honored to have help me in helping dogs with IVDD and dogs with mobility issues in need of a wheelchair.

A few weeks ago I actually received this tote as a gift from fan, Patricia (thank you Patricia for starting the wheels rolling on this!). She said she thought of me, Frankie and Joie when she saw it so she had one shipped to me. When it arrived I was so impressed with how well it is made. How big and roomy. I use mine when I go grocery shopping. Of course, I also fell in love with the wheelie dog logo!

So I reached out to Bean Goods and shared with them the day I founded called National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day and the Frankie Wheelchair Fund. It just so happens they were looking for a good cause to help and after a few emails back and forth, we are now partners!

I love their mission and reason for starting Bean Goods because of their little dachshund, Bean, who suffered from a spinal injury a few years back. Luckily he has made a full recovery and now has a buddy named Joyles Vanguard (Van for short) who also hangs out with him and they inspire their humans at Bean Goods.

So if you are looking for a super great tote bag and a heart warming cause to support, please consider purchasing a tote bag for yourself or for a friend or family member. Thank you to Claire, Chris, Bean and Van for being a part of our team! We are so happy and proud!

Dachshund Love in My Mailbox

IMG_1913Over the years since beginning my writing and work around dachshunds with IVDD I’ve gotten some pretty special items that show up in my mailbox. I surely don’t expect them. But when I find these surprises in my mailbox, I get this warm, oozing, tingly feeling in my heart.  There are so many wonderful, kind, people in the world.

A few weeks ago, Grace L. sent me this adorable bike with a sculpted clay Joie riding in the basket.  It was bittersweet, but a lovely reminder of the special summer I had with Joie riding in my bike basket. I was so touched by this sweet gift.

Grace will offer these for sale if there is enough interest since she has to order a large quantity of the bikes at one time. You can contact Grace through her Etsy page if you are interested. She has many other cute doxie items there too that she makes.

2013-12-13 11.10.18Yesterday I went to my mailbox to find these soft and pretty scarves from Margi L.  Her note to me said, “I made this scarf (pink one) for Joie to congratulate her on her film debut. Sadly, she passed away before I got it in the mail.” She went on to say, “I’m sure Joie would want Gidget to have it. I know Gidget will wear it proud in honor of Joie.”

Margi, you are exactly right. Gidget will wear it proudly.

She also sent along a holiday scarf she made for Gidget and didn’t want Kylie to be left out so sent the green one for her.  Thank you, Margi for your kind and generous heart. I’ll hope to get a photo of Lil’ G and Kylie together looking all stylish in their winter wear!

I guess I shouldn’t just say dachshund love in my mailbox, but Labrador love too!
