My Word + One for 2018 + a Gift for You!

My Word + One for 2018 + a Gift for You!

I enjoy picking a word for the year! But this year I was having a hard time deciding between two. Then I saw my friend and fellow blogger, Lori, of Oh! The Places I Go share that she couldn’t decide either. So she picked two!

While I didn’t need “permission”  to go with two, it was confirmation for me as I’d really been feeling stuck! And goodness, for no apparent reason at all. Sometimes I don’t always see the obvious. And it’s that “good girl” in me wanting to “follow the rules.”  Well, the heck with that!

I woke a little before 5am today eager to start 2018, but also thinking about my two words trying to narrow it down to one. But neither was willing to budge.

Depth came to me first a few weeks ago. But then the word abundance began dancing in my head. It isn’t just about abundance in terms of financial. But in all honesty, yes, I’d like to bring in some income of my own again. I’ve not done so since my work with Frankie as I’d been in transition for a few years.

During the summer I immersed myself in a passionate idea of launching a new service – one I’ve talked about quite a bit lately and my Intuitive Oracle Guide offering. I went through a 22-week group coaching program to put all the pieces together, followed by attending Oracle School in October and November.

I’ve been, in some ways, quietly building the momentum these last couple of months with plans to officially launch my new offering on January 9th with a free webinar (I’ll announce the details about that this Wednesday)! But as I’ve been doing all the behind-the-scenes personal mastery work, I’ve also been doing reading sessions for those interested.

That is where I became stuck between the two words of abundance and depth, and trying to choose just one. They are both so rich for me in terms of how I feel doing this new work. It brings me such a depth of gratitude and my heart feels full with abundance for those I’ve been able to help guide.

While yes, as I mentioned a moment ago I will welcome the financial piece of it as a new arm of Joyful Paws, it’s also so rewarding! It’s been so rich with synchronicity and magic when I’m able to help someone gain a new perspective when they are feeling stuck.

These are the type of conversations I want to be having – those rich in depth – because they feed my soul. And it’s something I realized about myself this past year. That the foundation of who I am is that I love seeing life in all its many layers, of which we each have so many layers too, and what makes us uniquely who we are.

To help another by holding space, really listening, and working with oracle cards to start a meaningful dialogue has provided so much new rich content for my own life just by being in service in this way…and why depth and abundance just have to go together for me this year.

And it’s what I want more of to experience because it is bringing a new depth of abundant joy to my life!

So now its your turn. It’s not too late to give thought to a word (or two!) for 2018. If you want to share with me what your word or words may be and why, I’d certainly love to hear. Really! I love this kind of stuff! So bring it on!

And to kick off this new year, which I think is going to be a beautiful one, I have a little gift for you. Sunday, I sat down with the Power Animal Oracle Cards  and asked for guidance from the animals for you and me for the year – one for each month.

Perhaps it might entice a word to come to the surface by hearing from the animals! But you can read this e-book in full to start if you wish, and then revisit it at the beginning of each month to see what animal is here to guide you with their wisdom.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting this together for you!

Truth Be Told

Welcome to November! The winds blow, the days grow shorter…and it’s the perfect time to go within.

This picture is from one year ago when we visited eastern Tennessee…oh how this tugs at my heart strings to be here again.

It’s also that time of year where perhaps you may be feeling the impending weight of obligations that are ahead with the holiday season.

Recently, I came across this quote that had me reflecting about when we say yes, when we actually mean no and how that can set us up for living a less than joyful and meaningful life.

It’s that old conditioning we’ve bought into, right?  My whole summer has been about unlearning so much of what I’ve been conditioned to believe, and putting more into practice what truly feeds my soul.

Just last week someone I loved asked me something that I had said yes to a few years ago. But I’ve since come to a new place in my life. So I needed to be honest and tell the truth that it no longer worked for me.

Interestingly enough, every morning for the past three weeks, I’ve been meditating and pulling an Oracle card from The Wisdom of the Oracle deck, and then journaling what comes up for me.

Just that morning, I pulled the Truth Be Told card, and here I was a few hours later being put to the challenge to do just that.

It was difficult because I didn’t want to cause hurt feelings. And honestly, for a time after, those old patterns of believing I needed to feel guilty crept in.

But the reality? When we say yes and really mean no, we carry this burden and negative feelings that build into resentment….and a resentment that eats away at us which can manifest in unhealthy ways.

Does the quote, “I am under no obligation to make sense to you” now make more sense? When we speak our truth we literally feel lighter in our bodies and our hearts rejoice in freedom…even when it may not make sense to someone else.

But when we don’t speak our truth we carry an unnecessary burden that weighs us down, causing us to live a less than meaningful life. Not good for you and not good for those around you.

Referring to The Wisdom of the Oracle booklet the line that stood out for me for Truth Be Told?…

Be authentic and gloriously flawed, and Spirit will answer with miracles.

As we do this work of stepping more into who we truly are, we need to be gentle with ourselves. And know that we aren’t alone…and that we are all a work in progress.

Lastly, to expand on this, I turned to the Power Animal and Soul Coaching oracle cards to find out what more we need to know to live our truth which is below in my video oracle guidance reading.

Much love and gratitude,

Barbara

What More Do We Need to Know About Not Making Sense To Others?

Trapped Inside My Writing Cottage

Trapped Inside My Writing Cottage

This is new.

This darling little fellow.

Who just recently started to sit upon the birch tree branch I have outside my half-moon window of my writing cottage.

He caught my eye as I was doing my yoga practice this morning.

Sitting there so content and might I add, so dang cute!

And he sat, and sat and sat.

So unusual for a hummingbird to sit so long.

It had me reflecting on how Hummingbird has shown up quite often lately in my animal wisdom oracle card readings.

And just two days ago listening live on Facebook as life coach, Cheryl Richardson shared the news of Louise Hay, founder of Hay House Publishing, who passed away at the age of 90 on the very same day that Dr. Wayne Dyer passed away two years ago. As Cheryl talked about Louise and her dedication to helping people heal, a hummingbird landed right outside her window…

and it just sat, and sat, and sat as Cheryl talked so lovingly about Louise.

And this is the thing…life is truly magical. Hummingbird showing up just then as Cheryl talked about Louise reminding us that joy is our birthright…

in life… and in transition.

And while the title of this post is ‘trapped inside my writing cottage’ because when I wanted to walk back in the house after my yoga practice, this little fellow had returned again to sit upon the birch branch.

And he sat, and sat and sat.

His message to me that life is to be savored and enjoyed. That there is no need to rush, but to take in all the joy that abounds.

And so I waited, and waited and waited until he decided it was ready to move on with the day. And then I too opened the door and made my way into the house.

And taking with me the lesson that I am only trapped when I make that choice. But when we make the choice to pause and capture what is right in front of us that the real magic happens and with it comes so much joy.

So much joy.
