Impromptu Animal Wisdom Reading – Owl – On Making Sense of Things, Inner Wisdom, Kindness

I was so inspired by a poem I read this morning in my friend, Dawn’s, newsletter, that I felt called to do an impromptu animal wisdom reading. Who (no pun intended!) shows up, but Owl! The collage above is one I created and was the first piece to sell when I announced the opening of my Etsy shop a little less than two weeks ago. It just so happens owl is the last one on my art table that I need to write a message for before I give it to the person who purchased it. So definitely a confirmation personally for me.

But also owl is about trusting our wise inner self and making sense in a world that sometimes just does not seem to make sense these past eighteen months. So may Owl, the poem, and this message serve as some healing as you, and we all, journey forward.

Click on the owl collage above or on the video below to listen. I’ve also copied and pasted the poem below if you’d like to have the words to save.  🙂

BE KIND…
when the world
goes mad
be wildly kind
to everyone
everyone
everyone
everyone
~ you can’t control much
but you control how
you treat others
in these breaking news
heartbreaking times
when nothing feels
certain
let your raw kindness
be a certainty
allow your compassion
to become a North Star
stamped up in
the sky for
others to follow
back home

Helpful Visitor

Look who came to watch over me as I put out some fall flowers this morning.

In past years I’d likely have screamed, but I’ve come to honor and respect Snake very much. This is also a grass snake, so very harmless.

Sometimes we can feel alone emotionally and/or physically, but the animals remind us we are never alone and they are here as willing and helpful guides.

Autumn Leaves Teaching

Joyful Pause Cottage Early Fall Morning

As we move into the fall season I was touched by the quote I share below. But first a few thoughts on why it resonated.

We can be in such a hurry in this world and lose sight of what is right in front of and around us. Nature, in all its extraordinary beauty and teachings, demonstrates perfectly the way in which to live in right relationship with ourselves and the earth.

Taking our time to be in wonder of all we are part of is so invigorating when we really stop, listen, and take it all in.

It’s something I try to remember to make a conscious choice to do each morning before I step out the door for my morning walk. Instead of filling my head with my to-do list or worries, for that precious 45-minutes out of my day, I make the commitment to wander in wonder at all that is around me. It never fails to have me soaring in spirit in no time at all!

Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this, their only chance to soar. ~Delia Owens
