A true, inspirational story about a dachshund whose life started out just like any other dog walking on all four paws until a spinal injury leaves her paralyzed. Frankie is custom-fitted for a wheelchair and learns to keep on rolling. Her zest for life will have you cheering and she will give you hope that all things are possible. Frankie will leave an everlasting and loving paw print on your heart. A book for all ages to teach overcoming challenges and also compassion for the physically challenged.

Frankie the Walk ‘N Roll Dog keeps rolling along in her doggie wheelchair. This paralyzed dachshund’ unabashed healing, exuberant spirit, and spunky personality is a blessed gift to everyone she befriends. In this true, inspirational story, Frankie tells how she became a registered therapy dog and shares her visits to Libby’s House, a senior facility where many residents have Alzheimer’s or dementia. Frankie teaches us that patience, listening, and understanding opens our hearts to what matters most-love.

Joy is: Reading a Good Book

I love books and I love reading… and there is just never enough time to read all the books I want to read!  But when I am reading a really good book, I find joy in how time just disappears and I get lost in the pages.

Many times I do buy books and my personal library continues to grow.  But at times I need to be a bit more frugal so I get my books from the library.  I enjoy going to the library- the smells, all the books, the crisp book covers that crunch when you open them.

It is fun to get notice in my email in-box when I book I have ordered has arrived at my local library.  It is such a nice break to go pick it up!

So here are some books I have read of late that I would recommend:

Endings. Beginnings…When Midlife Women Leave Home in Search of Authenticity

This was a very powerful book for me.  At the beginning of my search for authenticity I felt odd and lonely, but this booked helped me feel not so alone, and helped reaffirm for me I am on the right path.  And you don’t necessarily have to leave home physically for your search to authenticity… but some do.  If you are searching for your authentic self or just need affirmation you are doing the right thing, this book is for you.

Women, Food and God

This book is very, very honest in why we eat.  I just finished this book, and have also been practicing Yoga lately and I’m surprised at how much in tune I have felt and more connected to my body and what I am eating.  This book is a great reminder to healthy eating and why we eat and how to eat.

Peace and Plenty, Finding Your Path to Financial Serenity

Sarah Ban Breathnach is one of my favorite authors, and all I can say without giving away the “secret” to this book is that I was very surprised from what Sarah shares in this book.  But I also applaud her for her honesty and sharing what she has learned and continues to learn about money.

A Very Modest Cottage

You could say I am a collector of cottage books!  I have quite a few.  I can never get enough of anything “cottage.”  So when I saw this book in Country Living magazine, I just had to have it.  I was thrilled to have gotten it for a Christmas gift.  This little cottage, over 85 years old was moved from Illinois to Wisconsin.  The author takes you step-by-step through the process of moving, refurbishing, and decorating.  I was in a whole other world turning the pages to this very well done and delightful book!
