It felt like a serendipity day yesterday! On my blog earlier that day I’d written about how I had to take the roads less traveled on my way back home after a dentist appointment. Doing so brought back memories and also fed that part of my soul that often yearns to live life at a slower pace.
Wednesday nights are typically “date night” for John and I which means we go out to dinner somewhere. And little did I know John had just learned that day of a new restaurant for us to check out. Not new in the sense of having just opened, but new to us as we’d never been there before.
It was about a half hour drive and in the county of Fond du Lac. And while the quicker route would have been taking the highway, John being someone who also loves to take the roads less traveled meant more country roads to explore. I could hardly wait to freshen up and get on our way! In fact, I was ready to go before John because I was so excited.
Up and down hills and winding roads we traveled and made our way to a small, unincorporated town called Dotyville. A few miles traveling west on Cty. Tk. T, in the middle of farming country and many cows, all of a sudden there it was…this sweet little restaurant called Red Cabin at Green Acres.
From the restaurants website: The idea and dream of the Red Cabin Supper Club has been many years in the making, and now its happening! Red Cabin at Green Acres was opened on April 12th, 2011.
They boast “country comforts with big city tastes” and “dozens of fresh side dishes” and we discovered they are true to their word. Everything was delicious and the service too, plus the view was lush with lots of green trees and a small pond.
Afterwards we strolled the grounds which are very pretty and where you can hold an event if you wish. If I was to get married again (of course to the same guy! I’m not about to give up Prince Charming as my friend Marie calls John)– I’d give serious thought to this quaint, picturesque place.
Come along with me as I share a few pictures I took…
There is indeed a red cabin on the property behind the restaurant — though I’m not sure if it is used for anything. But don’t you just want to sit a spell in that rocking chair?
All these birdhouses hanging in the tree outside the front door entrance of the restaurant sure was a delightful site!
This photo above I took from Red Cabin website and is the view from the other side of the pond.
The sun slowly beginning to settle in for the evening meant it was time for us, our tummies full, and our hearts happy, to voyage back home, too. But we will definitely be going back!
