As I do most mornings, I was on my mat doing my yoga practice. I do my practice in front of our French patio doors in our living room, looking into our back yard.
As I was holding side triangle pose, looking up through the bare tree limbs into the blue sky, the wind howling, birds chirping, and the wind chills -25 to -35 today, I saw a seagull glide through the sky. Wow, did that make me smile!
The minute I got out to my writing cottage today I referred to my two sources for animal messages, but seagull wasn’t an animal listed in either of them. I decided to Google it and see if I could find anything.
I found two messages, with really the same message:
“Now is the time for deep emotional healing, your feelings need to be acknowledged and expressed.”
“There’s nothing wrong with drawing a bit of attention to yourself.”
I took these messages as meaning much the same thing. How often are we afraid to express how we feel out of judgment from others?
In the “Unraveling Your True Self” class I’m taking, last week we talked about many of these issues. We talked about how can we express ourselves and not be door mats when we believe strongly in something?
My response, which I shared with the group of ladies in the class, is something I try to do, which is when I believe strongly in something, but someone may not agree with me, I try to state my thoughts with compassion and kindness.
Now I’m not saying I’m 100% good at this, but I’ve gotten better. I stated my example of Frankie being in a wheelchair and how others didn’t always agree. But I realized that anger at someone wouldn’t solve anything. I realized it was my opportunity to share my thoughts and hopefully educate, and make a difference. If someone still does not agree, then that is okay too. But I was able to say how I feel, let go, and move on.
As I continue to write for my blog and work on my new book, Joie’s Gift, as well as it is one of my intentions this year, I want to write about issues I may not have otherwise. To be braver in a sense, knowing others aren’t always going to agree with me. But that is okay, as long as I continue to do so out of speaking my truth with compassion and kindness.
That is how I understand my message from seagull today. As I think about what animals in our world can teach us, I really want to know more. Animal communication is fascinating to me, though at times I’ve felt hesitant about voicing that out loud on an even deeper level.
But I want to learn more from our animal world and by being more aware of moments like today when seagull glided into my view. Then taking the time to find out what seagulls message was for me.
Today is also my animal reading with my animal communicator, Dawn who is doing a reading with Gidget. And I’m quite intrigued because she sent me an email saying that Kylie was very much on her mind when she woke up Saturday morning. Kylie wanting to share some thoughts as well. So I’m eager for 1:00pm to roll around to hear what they both have to share with me. I’ll be sure to share with you soon!
In the meantime, let me know if you have an encounter with an animal today and what their message is to you.
