Over the years since beginning my writing and work around dachshunds with IVDD I’ve gotten some pretty special items that show up in my mailbox. I surely don’t expect them. But when I find these surprises in my mailbox, I get this warm, oozing, tingly feeling in my heart. There are so many wonderful, kind, people in the world.
A few weeks ago, Grace L. sent me this adorable bike with a sculpted clay Joie riding in the basket. It was bittersweet, but a lovely reminder of the special summer I had with Joie riding in my bike basket. I was so touched by this sweet gift.
Grace will offer these for sale if there is enough interest since she has to order a large quantity of the bikes at one time. You can contact Grace through her Etsy page if you are interested. She has many other cute doxie items there too that she makes.
Yesterday I went to my mailbox to find these soft and pretty scarves from Margi L. Her note to me said, “I made this scarf (pink one) for Joie to congratulate her on her film debut. Sadly, she passed away before I got it in the mail.” She went on to say, “I’m sure Joie would want Gidget to have it. I know Gidget will wear it proud in honor of Joie.”
Margi, you are exactly right. Gidget will wear it proudly.
She also sent along a holiday scarf she made for Gidget and didn’t want Kylie to be left out so sent the green one for her. Thank you, Margi for your kind and generous heart. I’ll hope to get a photo of Lil’ G and Kylie together looking all stylish in their winter wear!
I guess I shouldn’t just say dachshund love in my mailbox, but Labrador love too!
