My Friend Sassy of LoveyLoaves & WagAware Campaign

sassy

I’ve long admired the tireless work LoveyLoaves sanctuary does – a place just for dogs with special needs.

Like Sassy in the photo above, born without back legs. She’s been through a lot, but with the love and nurturing from Lovey Loaves, she not only survives, but is thriving.

When not being all silly for the camera, she has a set of wheels which she is super fast in and loves to use for exploring.

My way of spreading the word about their good work is letting you know of a special campaign they are doing right now.

And it’s a cool charm that you can get for your dog or perhaps your keychain!

WagAware makes these fun, glow in the dark charms with a portion of the proceeds benefiting help for many animals and different organizations around the world.  From now through 9/20, 50% of the profits will go to Lovey Loaves.

So if you want to help a special needs dog and get a cool charm for your dog, do check it out today!

Dear Joie…

Dear Joie

Dear Joie,

I remember the day I held you for the first time in my arms.

I fell to my knees when I saw Linda, a volunteer with Oregon Dachshund Rescue, carrying you to me in that bright yellow Southwest Carrier.

Cupping your petite, soft face in my hands as you popped out through the zipper, my heart burst into a million emotions.

You made my heart feel home once again to love another dog after the loss of another.

And then it took me some time to understand why you had to leave again so soon – ten months later.

But I see the gifts today, of which, there are many.

And today, I held a copy of the movie that arrived in the mail – of which you played a part.

My heart bursts again for the sweet love you were, and will always be, captured in this film.

A sweet memory that makes my heart feel home again for having had the experience of loving you.

44th Paralyzed Dog Receives Donated Wheelchair. Last Day to Order T-Shirt.

Jason is the 44th paralyzed dog the Frankie Wheelchair Fund is honored to have been able to help and provide a wheelchair to.

He just received his wheels this past Friday and as is usually the case, a paralyzed dog fitted with a set of wheels gets on with the business of enjoying life.

They don’t stop long enough to feel sorry for themselves, but teach us through the beauty of who they are what perseverance and adversity is all about.

Jason, we wish you the very best and hope you have many years ahead of you of exploring in your wheels.  Keep on rolling!

**Jason’s wheelchair is custom-made by Eddie’s Wheels for Pets.

If you’d like to support the near-and-dear to my heart mission you can donate directly via my GoFundMe page or on National Walk ‘N Roll Dog website.  Today is also the last day to order a t-shirt with proceeds going to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund which is my annual fundraiser.
