Today is the Day. Wish Me Luck.

I’ve got the itch. To clean, organize, simplify. The most challenging space of all. My writing cottage. So many wonderful things surround me in this place. But I need a change.

I also want to see if I can’t make enough room in this 10 x 12 room to include my morning yoga practice. That means a piece of furniture or two is going to have to go. I have an idea in mind of which pieces I will get rid of. One of which will be the pink and blue dresser you see in the right hand side of photo.

My writing cottage has morphed many times.  Though the photo is not exactly as it is right now, it is close. But you get the idea of how much stuff I have in this space.  And this is only half the room!

I shall began today to purge. I don’t think I’ll finish it all today, but will hopefully have it done by the end of the weekend.

It will be a challenge, but I’m up for it and feeling inspired, so best follow this impulse NOW.  And now that I shared this it will help keep me accountable! I’ll post updated photo when I’m done, so stay tuned.

My Writing Cottage. A.K.A JoyfulPaws.com Headquarters

Today I had a request from a reader on Facebook. He knows I’m taking a photography class and that we are to be taking photos of our every day life. He requested that I share photos of my writing cottage. I’ve posted photos in the past, but it’s been awhile, so those of you new to my blog, I thought you might enjoy.

I must say though, as I looked at the photos I thought, I have too much stuff!  I’m in a new mode of thinking the past couple of months of trying to smart-size and not live with as much stuff.  Eventually my husband I want to move to a smaller home (ours is 1200 sq. ft.).  I know my writing cottage would be hard for me to leave, as well as all my “stuff.” But I do think I could get rid of some things… someday.

All photos were taken today, with the exception of the outside shot.  This is from the summer months. It is much prettier in the summer than winter.  And wait until you see my boss– she is SO CUTE!

When John built me this 10 x 12 space he dubbed it MySpace.Calm.  It really meant alot to me that he understood I needed my own space to write and just be.

Every Woman Needs a Little Space of Her Own

A few years ago after completing my first chidren’s book I decided I needed a writing studio. It would turn out to not only be my area to write, it is a place I love to read, create, and sometimes just be. I really think it is so important for a woman to have a little space of her own… even if that space is just small corner in a room somewhere.

It’s been about 3 years since my husband built my 10 x 12 room for me which is off one corner of our deck. I’ve changed it around a few times, but could never come up with too many ways in which to arrange because of the size…. and all the things I have in this compact space!

Of course my favorite thing about my studio is that little Frankie always hangs out with me!

Recently my dear friend has been pondering starting a business of her own. One where she will go into people’s homes and help them make the best use of their space, as well as use what they currently have to create a whole new look. I love the idea!  So to get her started I asked her to come and re-do my studio.

Wait till you see what she did!  I adore it!
