Frankie Floating Out to Sea

This morning I received a truly touching call.  Jack Burkart of Burkart Insurance who we do business with called with a tug at your heart strings offer.  He and his wife Sandy own a time share on a tiny island in the Caribbean.

Recently they spent some time on the island.  The people who live here are very poor.  For years there was no school, but thanks to the generosity of others a school was started.  On this recent trip, Jack and Sandy visited the school.  Jack told me it really tugs at your heart strings to see these little children all decked out in their school uniforms so eager to learn.  So eager to break the cycle of poverty they are in.  Just wanting a chance for a better life.

Upon returning home they wanted to do something to make a difference in the children’s lives.  That’s where Frankie comes in.  He asked if he could buy 20 of Frankie’s book to donate to the children.  I could hardly speak.  I know I often talk about being grateful and honored, but I have to say this really tugged all the way down to my toes.

When I finish posting this today I will be gleefully signing 20 books with each wonderful child in my mind.  We will include Frankie Frisbee’s, bookmarks and a "paw-tographed" photo of the "real" Frankie, along with a letter.  I wish I could be there to see the children’s faces as they each are given a Frankie book.  To know that Frankie’s story could inspire them to face their challenge head on and look for a positive choice for their lives is a reward beyond words…
