Spirit Animal Oracle Reading for May 2019

Note: Dragonfly and Sandpiper in protection (upside down) which means to pay extra attention and a message of helping you to avoid difficulties.

Dragonfly as our anchor for the month of May asks where is it you are finding yourself caught in an illusion? Where is it perhaps you aren’t being honest with yourself? When we aren’t in touch with our truth it can feel heavy and like we are carrying a burden.

Sandpiper encourages us that when we feel this way it’s time to get out of our heads. How often do we get caught in the trap of trying to mentally figure things out? And only end up in an endless battle that loops over and over in our minds?

Sandpiper encourages us to take some time out for play. With their long graceful legs and long beak, Sandpiper encourages us to be light on our feet – dance – splash in the puddles and sing in the rain – whatever feels like play to you, do that! This is when without effort, the answers we were mentally digging so hard to find come effortlessly floating to the surface.  When this happens, pay attention to that vital shift within you that just occurred!  You will feel lighter not only in body but in mind and heart, too.

Wasp reminds us that when we lose our way it can indeed sting. But it’s also an opportunity to come back to the center of the truth of what we know. How often have you looked back and realized something that was painful brought you to a new understanding you’d not have had otherwise?  So when you lose your way, don’t forget to take time out to ground yourself. And when you feel ready, spread those newly expanded wings and fly back into the world again!

Special Celebrations!

You get one guess! Guess who is celebrating a birthday?  How did you know?  It’s true. Miss Gidget turned twelve this month.

The thing is, I don’t really know when her birthday is. Nor do I know her exact age. But from the records I received when I adopted her from a rescue five and a half years ago, this is the best guess.

In a newsletter I sent out earlier today it has a feature that shares wisdom from Gidget. She had this to say:  Happy 12th Birthday to me! My secret to life? Act like you are still two years old! One of my nicknames is “fidgety gidgety” as I sometimes tend to not sit still. But I also have my quiet moments. So my words of wisdom to you? Be still and squiggle too!

She appears to be smiling in this photo, don’t you think? I do and it makes my heart happy. Gidget has more than earned that smile. We have traveled quite the journey together of what at times has felt like more downs than ups.

But of late, the rewards reaped from doing my personal inner work healing a childhood wound has resulted not only in more peace within me but Gidget too. I’ll be sharing that journey in my next memoir, I’m Fine Just the Way I Am.

As has been the case with every dog I’ve been blessed to share my life with, Gidget was a reflection I needed at this time in my life that had me going through what is sometimes defined as a “dark night of the soul.”

It feels incredibly good to be on the other side of the darkness. Looking at this photo of Gidget I see and feel a lightness about her. It is definitely a reflection for me also.

What a dog of depth she is, though sweet and silly too. I often think about how I began calling her my Buddha dog when she first came to live with me and John in 2013. She has been the most beautiful beacon of light to my soul that felt lost for so long.

So… Happy Birthday dear Gidget! You wear the princess crown well. You are a dog of grace and wisdom and I’m so grateful for the unconditional love and sacred space you’ve held for me. xoxoxoxo

Speaking of celebrations!….there is more!

Yesterday afternoon John and I attended a special celebration in honor of this 90-year young lady! Many moons ago (25 years!) I worked with Marilyn at Kohl’s Dept store. She worked in the lingerie department. She was so meticulous with the many “unmentionables!”  She took great pride in keeping all the bras and panties neat as a pin on the clothing racks. I don’t know how she did it! Such patience she had. Many of us fondly called her the “Bra Lady.” For her retirement party, I still remember the “boob” cake with the adorning lace bra. It was quite the hit! It was an honor to celebrate her then as it was yesterday.

She loved the top I had on and especially loved the sleeves. I told her they are my angel wings. After I saw this photo of her and me, I was struck by the “angel wing” across her.  When we had arrived, Marilyn greeted John and me away from the other guests to tell us she is dealing with a cancer diagnosis that has no cure.

Seeing this “angel wing” draped across her it’s my hope that angel wings indeed will be her guide and at her side, for however long she continues to be with us. Her spirit and attitude is nothing short of amazing. I have no doubt that has been her secret to reaching 90.

The highlights of life that make the journey so worth it!

Has It Really Been Ten Years? Life in My Writing Cottage.

My favorite photo – in the fall. Be still my heart.

Celebrating ten years of this beautiful space which has held and nurtured my heart, helping me expand and evolve.

Every time I walk through the Victorian style screen door of this 10 x 12 quaint space that sits off the corner of my deck, it feels like a warm embrace from Spirit, supporting me in what matters to my heart.

It was a thrill a few years ago when the term “she shed” and what became a trend that took off like a rocket in the media and I was interviewed about my space on a morning show out of Australia. I was also featured on Today.com and ABC.com, but best of all was the interview a local news station did. While I didn’t have the landscaping as I do now in the photo, and my deck accessories have become a bit more simplified, I absolutely loved this interview from the summer of 2015.

Little did I know this would be a trend, as I was a wee bit ahead of my time. And my little cottage in my little corner of the world has certainly seen its changes inside and out. My writing cottage was a labor of love constructed by my husband, John, and my selling of a car I loved, to help pay for the materials. All to support my love of writing which has now expanded to my love of supporting others through my oracle readings and guidance sessions.

Two children’s books, two memoirs, and a third memoir in the works I’ve written within this space.  And countless women I’ve connected with around the world within this space via the internet whether to talk about writing, animals, oracle cards, workshops, and so much more…oh, what fun it has been!

So in celebration, I share this, my favorite photo of my sweet writing cottage in the fall.  Most of all, I hope it inspires you to follow those niggles and nudges within your heart of what is calling you!
