Frankie’s Other Set of Wheels

Frankie has her dog cart, then she also rides in the basket on my bike, which are her summer wheels, and now she has yet another set of wheels.  I could not resist and had the back of my SUV logo-ed:  www.joyfulpaws.com, Home of Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog.  Frankie “looks on” on either side of the logo.

Frankie rides in the front seat of my car, buckled into her doggie car seat.  We usually get a smile or two when stopped at a stop sign.  She sits up high and can see what is happening.  As we were driving home from a school visit in Appleton on Tuesday we we came up beside another car.  A little dog in the back seat was having the time of his life.  He would jump up to the open window, stick his head out, and his whole face would fly in the wind.  He was having a ball and I couldn’t help but chuckle.  As I started to pass the car, it seemed as if I could not inch further ahead, so I looked to the side and the passengers in the car were smiling at Frankie looking at them from her high car seat perch.  How fun that was to exchange smiles through the love of our dogs.

National Indie Excellence Awards

Wahoo!  I just received notification that “Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog” was a finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards.  http://www.indieexcellence.com/  From their site, this is what they offer:

“The National Indie Excellence 2008 Book Awards competition presents a wonderful opportunity for all independent, small press and self publishers seeking more recognition within the publishing industry.

Winners and finalists will receive national media & industry exposure! We will issue a news release announcing the results to our list of national media, print and radio contacts. We also will promote the results within the publishing industry and have a presence at Book Expo America in Los Angeles in 2008.”

Day Poynter who is huge in the Self-Publishing arena has this to say about the Indie Excellence Awards:

“The Indie Excellence Book Awards are dedicated to celebrating and promoting the
outstanding work of independent publishers and authors.”

-Dan Poynter, author of The Self Publishing Manual and 100 other books

I am very honored to have been chosen as a finialst.  Even though not the “winner,” being a finialist entitles my book to national exposure just as the winner will receive.  I consider that a winner!!
