Resources added for Animals with Disabilities

I realized today as my new lesson came through for my Blog Triage class that I didn't have resources available on my blog pertaining to animals with disabilities.  How could I have missed this?  I have it all listed on my website, but neglected to include it here.

Since animals with disabilities is my passion and my heart, I went ahead and added resources on my blog sidebars today.  Please feel free to share them with anyone who needs them!  I also added sanctuaries where disabled animals live when they can't find a home. Also added is Therapy Dog organizations in the event you are looking to do volunteer work with your pet.  It's a fun, rewarding thing to do!

I'm sure I'll be updating more as I go along, but I wanted you to be aware of all of the valuable resources I added today.  It is my pleasure and honor to help whomever I can with an animal who is disabled or who becomes disabled.

Loved this Purina Ad!

As I perused through my Martha Stewart magazine late yesterday afternoon, soaking up the afternoon sun, sipping a margarita, and chillin' out in my periwinkle Adirondack chair, I came across this ad from Purina.  As I read it, I felt my eyes start to mist up and a lump form in my throat.  I thought it was so perfect about how I feel about my pets.

My pet.

My confident.

My nap partner.

My co-conspirator.

My weekend plan.

My inspiration.

My favorite audience.

My higher calling.

My dinner companion.

My reason for getting up in the morning.

My passion.

And all I could think of as the words blurred on the page was My Frankie and My Kylie.  They are my reason for so many good things in life.

“Let’s Move Together” Sheboygan County 1st Annual Event

Frankie and I took part in the 1st annual “Let’s Move Together” in Sheboygan County for The Arthritis Foundation I did not realize until today that children as young as 4 years old are being diagnosed with arthritis.  That is so sad to hear.

The event was held at Cedar Landing, which is a beautiful senior community in Elkhart Lake.  There are condo’s that are scattered throughout the loop, which leads back to the senior assisted facility center.  We were told three times around the loop was one mile.  Well, Frankie and I signed up for the one mile!

We woke up to rain and I was not looking forward to having to walk in it, but ah heck, it would only be for a little bit.  Luckily just as 10:00a rolled around the rain disappeared and the sun even tried to peak out.  Thank you Mother Nature.

Frankie only made it around the loop twice, and then she did not want to walk anymore.  When a dog with tires puts the brakes on, you listen.  She was graciously excused from the last loop and thanked for being such a trooper.

The picture below is of Frankie, her new dog friend, Rusty and friend, Katelynn taken before the walk began.  Rusty developed an instant crush on Frankie. Being a typical woman she ignored most of his advances.  Being a typical male, Rusty never gave up.

It was a great event, and a great way to wake up and feel refreshed on a Saturday morning!

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all mom’s and also to all mom’s to pets… you count too you know!  Have a wonderful, joyful day!
