World’s Oldest Dog

Wow, I just found out about a dog that is 21 years old!  That is 147 in human years.  She is a dachshund, which is very, very cool, and her name is Chanel.  She used to be red, but as you can imagine, being 147 has your hair turning a bit white.  The New York Post has her photo's and story.  I can only hope Frankie lives that long and is healthy and happy as can be.  Rock on, Chanel!

National Disabled Pets Day

Exciting news!!  The Animal Miracle Foundation has established May 3 as National Disabled Pets Day!  I discovered this fantastic information from Almost Perfect Pets blog, who by the way, has a book with the same name, and it is a wonderful, must read book.

A lump formed in my throat when I heard this news.  What a positive effect this will have not only on animals with disabilities, but in turn, on others with disabilities.  Teaching our children compassion and tolerance through these animals is so beneficial.

It will bring immense awareness to these animals who are often overlooked and forgotten in shelters.  I can assure you a disabled animal will bring you rewards beyond anything you ever imagined.  Giving your heart to one of these animals will be a blessing unlike anything you have ever known.
