Today is a very interesting guest post on Margay's blog Margay presented a challenging question to me about how Frankie might help a sibling who has a sibling with a disability. A tough thing for the child with special needs, but a tough thing as well for the sibling who's sister or brother has a disability.
While I cannot speak directly to the situation not having ever had to face this, I can certainly empathize with all involved. I can only relate to my experience with Frankie and what she has taught me. I hope with all my heart the lessons I have learned will help kids with all different abilities. One thing I try to help children understand is that we all face challenges. It is just a fact of life. But helping them to see them as tools to help them be better human beings is what I strive to help them understand. I hope by encouraging them to keep a positive attitude it will make their lives a bit easier as they grow.
