Joie’s Inner Dinner Clock- Video

Every day around 4:00pm the same scene plays out.

I’m working away at my computer in my writing cottage. I begin to feel the stare down from the beady black eyed creature next to my desk. Joie’s inner clock has been ticking… counting down to dinner time. I swear she can tell time!  Then if I make the slightest move, she jumps and starts to head for the door. “Nope, not quite time to go in yet,” I say, as if she understands. So she begins the stare down once again. Sometimes she chuff’s and snorts as you’ll hear in the video.  This goes on for at least a half hour every. single. day.

Pewaukee Vet Services to Offer Massage Seminars to Benefit Your Pet & the Frankie Wheelchair Fund

Looks to me like Joie is getting into massage mode!

When Frankie became paralyzed in 2006, and several weeks after her surgery, I brought her to Dr. Morgan at Pewaukee Veterinary Services. It was an experience I walked away from filled with much hope and thankful for such a caring doctor, as well as an awesome clinic.

This past October when I got Joie, adopted from Oregon Dachshund Rescue, I once again made the trip to see Dr. Morgan for an evaluation of Joie. I truly can’t say enough about Dr. Morgan. Her compassion for special needs pets is evident from the moment you meet her. Also, her technician assistant, Sarah is so kind, who also happens to have a little dog in wheels named Widget.

On my visit with Joie, Dr. Morgan remembered me from my visit with Frankie years before. As we talked I shared with her the day I founded in memory of Frankie, National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day. I also shared with her the Frankie Wheelchair Fund and the fact we were able to help six dogs at that time get a wheelchair that may not have otherwise had the opportunity to have one.  She was very supportive of my mission and excited what I had shared with her saying there might be a way they could work with me to bring more awareness to my cause.

True to their word, I heard from them a few weeks ago. They will be offering three different seminars coming up to teach pet owners relaxation massage for pets. In lieu of charging a fee they are asking for donations to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund. They will offer a two-hour seminar in February, March and April.  You find out more details here. I’m so honored for their support of helping the Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

I plan on attending the seminar in March to learn correct technique’s for massage for Joie. I think it will be another wonderful way in which to bond with her.  If you are in the Milwaukee and surrounding areas I hope you can make it to one of the seminars!
