Meet Daisy: The 21st Dog Helped with a Wheelchair through The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

daisy 2Another happy dance day today at Joyful Paws Headquarters sharing the announcement that the Frankie Wheelchair Fund has helped another dog gain back their mobility.

Meet 10-year old Daisy who is now enjoying the great outdoors, sniffing and exploring once again. You can visit her Facebook page to see a video of her enjoying time in her yard again.  Daisy had a wheelchair, but unfortunately she didn’t like it for some reason. But a custom-made wheelchair from Eddie’s Wheels seems to have done the trick.

Daisy has intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) and sadly was attacked and stabbed by a mentally disturbed young man a little over a month ago. She is recovering nicely and will be having some upcoming dental work that still needs to be done. If you’d like to help with Daisy’s medical funds you can do so here.

Daisy is now in a home that loves her very much and providing wonderful care for her. I’m so glad I could help her in a positive way with a new set of wheels and say a huge thank you once again to the supporters of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund who make this possible for me to do.

To learn more about the Frankie Wheelchair Fund please visit National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day website. You can apply there for the fund or contribute. To learn more about IVDD visit Dodgerslist.

We also have an on-going partnership with Bean Goods Company and this durable, fun, inspiring tote bag you can purchase with 100% of the profits that go to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

Bean Goods Partners with the Frankie Wheelchair Fund with their “Rolling with the Homie’s” tote bag!

Screen_shot_2014-02-17_at_3.16.20_PMI’m so very excited to share this wonderful announcement!  The company Bean Goods will donate 100% of the profit of each of these durable, fun, tote bag’s to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund. This will be an on-going partnership which I’m so very honored to have help me in helping dogs with IVDD and dogs with mobility issues in need of a wheelchair.

A few weeks ago I actually received this tote as a gift from fan, Patricia (thank you Patricia for starting the wheels rolling on this!). She said she thought of me, Frankie and Joie when she saw it so she had one shipped to me. When it arrived I was so impressed with how well it is made. How big and roomy. I use mine when I go grocery shopping. Of course, I also fell in love with the wheelie dog logo!

So I reached out to Bean Goods and shared with them the day I founded called National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day and the Frankie Wheelchair Fund. It just so happens they were looking for a good cause to help and after a few emails back and forth, we are now partners!

I love their mission and reason for starting Bean Goods because of their little dachshund, Bean, who suffered from a spinal injury a few years back. Luckily he has made a full recovery and now has a buddy named Joyles Vanguard (Van for short) who also hangs out with him and they inspire their humans at Bean Goods.

So if you are looking for a super great tote bag and a heart warming cause to support, please consider purchasing a tote bag for yourself or for a friend or family member. Thank you to Claire, Chris, Bean and Van for being a part of our team! We are so happy and proud!

Meditating with Buddha Dog – Set the Intention and Magic Happens

meditating gidgetEver since I completed The Sacred Alone ecourse with Susannah Conway about two weeks ago, I set the intention to meditate more. I’ve been wanting to add this practice to my life for a very long time.

Well, how interesting when you set an intention and if you are open, signs will pop up here, there and everywhere to remind you.

After I set the intention, a day or two later my friend Shannon sent me a 21-day free meditation happening with Deepak Chopra and Oprah. I signed up and it begins April 14th. Then I found a website called Calm where you can download a timer and beautiful scenery to your ipad and/or phone to help you meditate. I love doing this one at night.

Two days ago animal communicator, Simonne Lee sent out a note via LinkedIn asking if others meditate with their pets. I wrote back that I’d just begun meditating more with my dachshund in the room with me. She wrote back, “Most animals love our energy when we meditate. It allows them to connect with us on a deeper level. Once you practice this with awareness – you can feel what they’re feeling.” Well, that is certainly reason enough for me to want to keep meditating!

Friday I listened to a replay of Coach on Call with Cheryl Richardson where she was advising a caller to meditate and it will very likely change her life.

Next onto my radar, which was today, from writer coach, Cynthia Morris is Insight Timer. Here you can keep on track with your meditating with people from all around the world. I just did 20 minutes of meditating with a bell that chimed to begin and chimed when I was done. Then I clicked on my phone and saw who all meditated with me during that time, which was 237 other people from around the world. Now that was very cool.

Then I remembered as I got ready to write this post a photo I had taken of Gidget last week, which is the one above. Of course, my meditating buddha dog was sending me another message that yes, I need to keep up my meditation practice. Set the intention and watch the magic unfold!

Speaking of meditating or communicating with our pets, just a reminder of the free teleseminar I am doing with animal communicator, Dawn Baumann Brunke tomorrow evening. There is still time to register and join us on the call! If you can’t make the call, I will be sending out the recording to all those who register.
