Laundry Therapy with my Special Little Helper

IMG_2021 12It was a full day of spring here today and oh, how glorious it felt. I had to get in a little of what I call “laundry therapy” and hang some dog bedding and clothing outside on the line.

It was made even more special by having my little helper, Gidget. It is the first time since I adopted her this past November that she has gotten to explore the whole yard, which we did twice today. This meant she also had to have half her dinner at lunch time because she was insistent that she was starving from all that exploring!

This is the first spring in a long time since I’ve not had a wheelie dog. I miss them, but am enjoying the new adventures of watching Gidget, who I’ve dubbed my “walk ‘n wobble” dog.

Sometimes in Life You Just Have to Twirl…Even When Others are Looking.

IMG_2010 eI love in the movie, “You’ve Got Mail” when Meg Ryan’s character is reflecting on when she was a little girl in her mom’s bookstore and after store hours they would twirl.

I love to twirl. Today I got to twirl. Usually I only twirl in the living room or kitchen of our home and not in front of others — just John and the dogs. But today a few others were watching. I did it! I stepped out of my comfort zone!

Okay, so it was only for 10 seconds. But the key point is that at first I felt embarrassed to just start twirling. But I stepped out of that box we can hold ourselves so tightly in and then never really experience what it feels like to completely let go.

Every two weeks I go in for my chiropractic adjustment at Dr. Cindy Munson’s office. A few month’s ago they did a super fun video to Gangnam Style Parody and called it Adjusting Munson Style.

Well, they are up to it again. This time to one of my favorite songs, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. They put a call out to their patients to bring in their best dance moves if they wanted to participate in the filming. At first I didn’t think I’d do it. I was too nervous.

But then John came home on Wednesday and said he taped his 10 second spot. Okay, the challenge was on!  If John could do it, well, I had to do it too!

A bit shy at first, but with the encouragement of everyone at Chiro-Health, I twirled!  And you know what? It was fun and I felt elated afterwards. I’m very excited to see the whole video put together and will share with you when it is ready. Wait until you see me twirl!  Now, I double dog dare you to do something outside your comfort zone—even if for only 10 seconds!
