This barn has been here a very long time. 28-years for sure, as that is how long I’ve lived in Elkhart Lake.
No matter which way I choose for my walking route, I walk past this old barn.
It always makes me smile. Just something so nostalgic about it. I wonder about its history.
It’s rather odd too as it is in the middle of our little town, surrounded by homes — no other barn in site until you head out of town.
I continue to worry that it may not be here much longer. New progress is being made a few feet from it with a new road going in. I don’t know if it will stay or eventually be torn down.
The new road leads to a veterinarian clinic that will open in a few months. From what I understand, Elkhart Lake has never had a clinic for animals.
I’m happy about the animal clinic and curious to know more about it — and hoping they may offer emergency services as my current vet does not.
But time will tell. And time will tell too for the sweet old barn that I’ve come to love.
I’d sure hate to see it torn down. But as with all change, though hard at first, a new view opens up and we are able to see things we’d not seen before.
Time will tell. So no use dwelling on what might be and just enjoy what is.
