It continues to be the simple things, simple pleasures, and grateful reflections of my own journey that is the place I return to as often as I need to during these challenging times.
I’ve found lately seeing animals I encounter on my walks or running errands often brings me to tears. I’ll be lost in thought of the negative in the world when — just like the other day — I saw four Sandhill Cranes on the edge of a field, and instantly my eyes filled with tears.
Their presence is so soothing and they bring me right back into my heart and what matters.
Seeing part of this flowering hydrangea framed in the carved-out heart of our deck brought me such delight too!
Is this something you’ve been experiencing also? If so, I truly believe it’s a clear sign that you are on the right path…and one that will have you resting more often in peace. Keep going.

Look who came to watch over me as I put out some fall flowers this morning.
In past years I’d likely have screamed, but I’ve come to honor and respect Snake very much. This is also a grass snake, so very harmless.
Sometimes we can feel alone emotionally and/or physically, but the animals remind us we are never alone and they are here as willing and helpful guides.
