A Friendship is Beginning to Bloom.

kylie and gidget on sofa 1200Gidget will be with us three weeks tomorrow. I continue to be astounded at how well she moved right in and made herself at home. While I can’t know the exact reason for that since Gidget can’t talk, it sure has done my heart good to see she is content here.

Kylie welcomed Gidget late that Friday night I brought her home without much fanfare. But that is how Kylie is. Laid back and goes with the flow. She has pretty much let Gidget do her thing.  Not all adoptions turn out this way when there is another dog in the household, so I’m grateful it is working out.

Lately I’ve seen Kylie approach Gidget.  She takes her big snout and touches the tip of Gidget’s nose. The minute that happens, Kylie’s tail begins to wag a million miles a minute. It seems as if she is trying to entice Gidget in play, but she hasn’t taken her up on that quite yet.

This is the first time they really hung out next to each other on the sofa, as I sat with them.  Notice how the little ham, Gidget poses for the camera, while Kylie seems to let her soak up the spotlight.

The other day I also caught Gidget sitting between Kylie’s front legs, but couldn’t get the camera fast enough to get a shot. A car drove by and Kylie got up to investigate. But I do think a friendship is beginning to bloom.  That in turn makes my heart bloom with happiness.
