Audio Preview of Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Therapy Dog Visits Libby’s House

It is sooo exciting to watch a book you put your heart into come alive with illustrations.  The final touches are being made to Frankie’s new book, Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Therapy Dog Visits Libby’s House to debut January 2010.  Victoria Kay Lieffring was once again the illustrator and she captured the essence of the book in the colors and details of the story.  I am so pleased and can’t wait to share it with all of you!  As a little gift and sneak peek I recorded a snippet of the book so you could find out a bit more what this book is about.  I’m so proud of the therapy dog work that Frankie does and the lives she is touching.

You can go to my website and scroll down to 3rd book on page for the snippet of the reading right on your computer!  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

And speaking of therpay dogs be sure and read this wonderful article I learned about from our pal, Shadrach, over at Bark ‘N Blog!  Speaks to what therapy dog work is all about!!

Sue Hume, Mom of Special Needs Girls Reviews Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog

I love Sue's blog tag line:  "Helping Women Find Hope."

Sue Hume is special mom of two teenage girls and founder of Hope for Special Moms, a ministry that provides spiritual support and encouragement to women raising children with special needs. She is also a writer and speaker passionate to help women discover who God is and how He works in their lives.

Sue's review of Frankie, the Walk 'N Roll Dog was extra special.  I appreciated the fact that she said, "Although it's not a faith-based book, an adult could easily add comments throughout about prayer and God."  I wrote back to Sue and thanked her for this and shared with her that when I do my talks to local schools and organizations, how I talk about how my faith in God got me through everything with Frankie, to writing the book, etc.  And as many of you know, who follow me, I do have a strong faith and had made the decision to look for the blessing in Frankie's situation, instead of feeling sorry for Frankie and myself.

Having that faith and doing my best to "Let Go and Let God" has made this journey quite remarkable to date, and for that I am so very thankful… and just as thankful for people like Sue, who see the value and beauty in the lessons a dog on wheels can not only teach our children, but adults as well.

As a special bonus, Sue had Frankie's book as a give-away to pass the message forward and you can check out this special little girl who won the book!!

Be Creative with Frankie, the Walk ‘N Roll Dog

I had the honor of teaching a two-day program at our local library incorporating Frankie and the writing and illustration process.  Week one I had the kids write a story with a Frankie theme.  They could pair up or write a story on their own.  One team had Frankie going to the moon!  One had her going to Paris.  Wee wee!  She also went to the beach, as well as became a boxer.  Week two I had large “Flat Frankie’s” made for each of them.  They adhered their Flat Frankie to tag board and decorated to their hearts content.  I don’t know who had more fun… the kids decorating their Frankie’s or me watching them having all the fun.  It was a JOY to share Frankie with them!  Here is a group shot of week two’s class and their Flat Frankie’s.
