Love is in the Air

IMG_1972 eThough it feels like everyday is a day of love with sweet little Gidget now a part of my life, tomorrow is the Hallmark official day of love.

I had fun taking some photos of Lil’ G for this special day. As you can see, she is quite the wonderful little model, too (it helps that I have treats for her I suppose).

For some fun, I have a contest going on on my Facebook page if you’d like to check it out. It’s another Valentine photo of Miss G where you have to add a caption to her photo to enter. Winner will receive a copy of “Through Frankie’s Eyes” (print copy within US and ebook outside of US).  But hurry, winner will be chosen at 5:00pm cst on Valentine’s Day!

Find Out What the Gidget Thermometer Predicts for Upcoming Wisconsin Weather

snuggly g eGidget’s position within her weenie pocket this morning indicates a big drop in temperature heading our way.

From what I’m understanding by her nestled in appearance we are expecting temps to drop rapidly today and winds to pick up this afternoon.  Windchill to drop to almost 40 below overnight. This cold snap is expected all week, so lots of cuddling will be needed.

This also calls for staying cozy and warm in front of the woodstove.

Later this afternoon we will also welcome friends, Karin, Ron and son, Cameron visiting from Illinois.

Long time fan’s of Frankie who they met quite a few years ago, then a fan of Joie’s who they met last year. And now it is Gidget’s turn to wiggle her way into their hearts.

Now are you ready for this?  They are from Illinois, so yes, they are Chicago Bear fan’s as well. So we’ve invited them over to watch the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears in the divisional championship at 3:00pm today (hey you know me– I try to think positive!). Believe it or not, they accepted our invitation!

All kidding aside, we are looking forward to the fun rivalry. But most of all we are looking forward to spending time with friends we would have never known if not for Frankie.

GO PACKERS!

I’ve Been Keeping a Secret from You..Wait until you hear… and SEE!

24731384-1-800x0Meet Gidget!  My New Dachshund Love.  And wow, is she a love!

Do you have any idea how hard this was for me to keep from you?  I truly thought I was going to burst at the seams keeping this in.

Gidget, already nicknamed Lil’ G by me, arrived in Wisconsin last evening. Now you might think she is a retired showgirl when you hear she came from Las Vegas, NV- but she actually is from a wonderful rescue called On My Way Home Dachshund Rescue . Stephanie, who runs the rescue is a dear, kind, caring, wonderful lady who I will be forever grateful to for delivering my new bundle of doxie love.

Gidget has IVDD, but considered a highly functional case.  With therapy she was able to regain walking on her own and walks most endearingly with a little wiggle-wobble-wonk.  Like most IVDD dogs, she does need help with her bladder and needs it to be expressed, which as you know, I’ve got some good experience around just that.  Because she is an IVDD dachshund, Stephanie, was very cautious making sure Gidget went to the right home. Many people wanted to adopt Gidget and I’m beyond thrilled she chose me and has given me this honor to love and care for Gidget. I can find no words to even express my deepest gratitude for this.

We think Gidget is about 6-years old. Her main color is considered black and secondary merle (blue). But it was those eyes that drew me in.  It was this connection n I felt all the way to her soul when I saw her that I just couldn’t deny. I just knew we were meant to be together.  Arriving home after 11:00pm last night, it not only felt so good to be home with Gidget wrapped in my arms, but to have my heart completely enveloped in doxie love makes me feel home again too. This is what makes me JOYFUL!

I am head over heels in love!… and it’s official as Stephanie took this photo of Gidget and me declaring me Gidget’s Forever Mom.

Stay tuned as I share more about her in the upcoming days!
