Meet Waggles- A Wheelie Dog Ornament

waggles

I just had to share this precious ornament with you!  Her name is Waggles. She is a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament that was made in 2001.  This sweet dachshund was gifted to me by Abby from Our Dachshund Sophie blog.  She and I have begun a wonderful friendship because of the love of our special wheelchair dachshunds and our passion to educate and bring positive awareness to these precious pups.

Abby writes beautifully of her life with her dachshund, Sophie who is in a dog wheelchair because of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), as well as raising two young children. Abby’s love for Sophie is so endearing and reminds me so much of my relationship with Frankie, and now Joie.

I’m just ticked to have been given this sweet ornament by Abby and as a keepsake that not only reminds me of Frankie, but Sophie as well. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

Update on Sassy, the Dachshund, and Double Amputation Surgery

Earlier this month in a post I shared with you the sweet and lovable, Sassy.  She was born with twisted back legs. After many different things done to help her little legs not have open sores, as well as many different wheelchairs to fit her (which didn’t fit quite right due to her twisted legs), surgery to remove her back legs was the last option.

She came home yesterday and is doing very well after the surgery. See for yourself!

Ward and Cheri of LovelyLoaves animal sanctuary where Sassy has a permanent home mentioned on their Facebook page that Sassy was happy to be snuggled into her own blankets. They were also so happy to see her looking so great!  And they said, “We promise many photos and a full update to come after we all get re-settled and re-situated. Full body pics and centerfolds. ;-)”

Thank you to everyone who was able to chip in for her surgery and for everyone that has been praying for this sweet little one. She is quite special as you can see… and so loved by many.
