Something Special this Holiday

I’m taking my cue from another author, who like me, finds it hard to be sales-y, pushy, or annoying. But as an author, and it being the holidays I kindly ask that if you have someone on your list that fits in one of the above categories that you might consider my books. So please pardon me while I begin with a heart felt “commercial.”

While yes, I am promoting my books, I also say from the deepest of my heart to know Frankie’s legacy carries on for generations to come, and knowing the positive affect she has on those reading her story through my books truly warms my heart, as well as those receiving them, are uplifted and inspired. It continues to be my hope to be a positive voice for dogs with IVDD and dogs in wheelchairs, as well as inspire young and old to see their challenges as stepping stones to something even greater.

While I do have my books for sale on my website, I’m making this offer available only for anyone ordering through Amazon or Barnes and Noble because I know so often you can take advantage of free shipping as well as if you order two or all three of my books they can discount as a package deal (at least I know Amazon does that).  And I’ve come up with something to offer anyone purchasing my books as a sweet thank you…

I will personalize a bookplate for the person you are giving the book(s), which you can affix to the title page.

**EXTRA SWEET BONUS** I have a very limited amount of 6-pack magnet sets of Frankie in her wheelchair set in three colors or of Frankie in three of her favorite outfits. I will include one set of these for anyone purchasing two or more of my books (first come, first serve and I’ll make choice of which set to send).  These are a $9.00 value.

1.)  Buy a copy of one of my books (or two or all three!) for that someone special

2.)  Send me a copy of the receipt by email to barb (at) joyfulpaws (dot) com (forward me the email invoice or scan and email) with the subject line, “Bookplate”

3.)  Make sure you also include in the email:
–the name of the person who’s receiving the book so I can personalize the bookplate (if you buy multiple books, I’ll personalize a bookplate for each)
—your mailing address

4.)  Then you just need to wait for them to arrive in the mail!

DETAILS

–I’ll cover the cost of postage for the bookplates and/or magnet set for US residents only (I don’t mean to exclude Canada or out of the country folks, but given cost of postage to mail as well as in time for holiday gift giving I can only make this offer for US residents)
–Deadline for emailing me a copy of your receipt is WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12th.  Bookplates and/or magnet sets will be mailed on Friday, the 15th so there should be plenty of time to receive in time for Christmas

Joie Shows Off Her Spiffy New Hug-a-Dog Harness from Dachshund Delights

Frankie loved her hug-a-dog harnesses from Dachshund Delights and now Joie loves her’s too!  Not only do they make a dog feel quite pretty (or handsome) and stylish, they serve a pretty special other purpose.

On top of the harness you will see a D-ring which Joie’s leash attaches to, or when riding in her car seat the seat belt keeping her safe in place attaches to it. But the nice thing about the D-ring and walking Joie is it does not put any pressure on her spine. This is a good thing whether your dog has IVDD or is prone to IVDD. These harnesses are also so well made!  They are custom made so you don’t have to worry about your dog wiggling their way out of it.  And they have oodles of patterns to choose from. I’ve also washed them many times and they really hold up well. Just love these harnesses!  And as you can see, Joie seems to feel pretty special in her new harness too.

How Everything Looks New Through Joie’s Eyes

This week has brought me so much joy watching Joie discover new things and the world around her. She started the weekend off  learning how to maneuver around in her wheelchair for the first time.  If you didn’t see the video of her in her wheels for the first time here it is.  On Monday I started taking her on small walks down the street in front of our house.  She starts out slow and before you know it she picks up speed and I have to walk quite fast to keep up with her.  My heart just oozes with love watching her enjoying her new freedom.

This morning as I was working in my writing cottage I heard her scooting around.  As I peeked over my desk I saw her checking out the gas stove for the first time, curious about it. So I moved her bed in front of the stove, and yup, you guessed it, it’s her favorite new place to nap. It’s where she is now as I write this post, lost in her happy dream world.

I just love to watch the world through my dogs’ eyes and this week has certainly been full up with joy watching Joie as she discovers new things around her.  At times I’d really like to know what she is  thinking. But if what I feel in my heart is her talking to me, I’d say she is one happy, content dog.  And that in turn makes me one happy dog mama.
