Come Meet Peppermint
A dachshund nose always knows!

Peppermint (formerly Pepper) was paralyzed and overweight when she came into rescue with Patricia.

They knew she’d eventually need a wheelchair, but first she needed to lose weight.

With the loving care of foster mom, Lori, Peppermint found her girlish figure once again.

And as a reward, a new outfit…this one in the form of a wheelchair, so she could do what doxie’s love to do best, and that is explore, explore, explore.

Here she is at the marina sniffing up all the glorious smells of a crisp, fall day.

Keep on rolling, Peppermint!

BlueBell Gets New Lease on Life with Wheelchair (courtesy of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund)

BlueBell found her way to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue who reached out to The Frankie Wheelchair Fund for funding for a wheelchair for her.

We were happy to help give BlueBell a new lease on life. This makes 42 dogs the fund has been able to help so far!

Melinda, BlueBell’s first foster mom said at first BlueBell didn’t care for the wheelchair. This can be typical, but usually in no time at all, they are off and running once they get the hang of it.

As it was for BlueBell too, and especially after she figured out she could chase cats!  Which she did at Melinda’s and now does at her new foster home also with Tiffanie.  Look at that little stinker after the cat- cracks me up.

I’m happy to say that it looks likely BlueBell will have a forever home as soon as her belly heals from her recent spay. An application came in for her that looks like a good match.

But if you are considering adopting a special needs dog, just wanted to let you know that Little Paws Dachshund Rescue has another dachshund in need of a home.  Meet Cinni and learn more about her on their website.

Meet Ginger: 19th Recipient of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund

gingercart3 e2It’s always a beautiful and touching day here at Joyful Paws & National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day headquarters when I get to share the news of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund helping another special needs little dog.

Meet Ginger. She is 13 years old and was down for over 3 1/2 years.  Her mom, Lisa, heard about the Frankie Wheelchair Fund and contacted me for help. After filling out the application and receiving a letter from her vet, it was an honor to help this sweet girl love out a quality of life for whatever remains.

She is just learning how to use her wheels after being immobile for many years, but we have hope she will be rolling with confidence real soon.

I had an unexpected and welcome surprise during the holidays when I received a larger than usual donation from someone who admires the work I’ve been able to do helping these dogs. I do believe he wants to remain anonymous, but I just wanted to say a thank you again to this person for believing in me, my mission, and these dogs. It means the world to me!

I couldn’t do it without the help of generous contributions such as the one I received from my recent contributor and everyone who has, and continues to, support my mission. A big thank you to each and every one of you!
