Come Meet Sammy! Granted a Wheelchair from The Frankie Wheelchair Fund (and available for adoption!)

Can you say cuteness overload? Sammy’s one ear cocked to the side really gets to my heart as it reminds me of how Gidget’s one ear does the same thing.  As if she has a wire in her ear!

I learned about Sammy from Sarah of The Smoothe Store, who was instrumental in helping raise funds this past September for The Frankie Wheelchair Fund- raising $3,500!  Woo hoo!

With the help of Sarah and money raised, we were able to help Sammy currently with Dachshund Rescue of South Florida with a wheelchair.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Sammy is oober happy in his brand new shiny wheels!  Seeing faces like Sammy just sends oodles of love to my heart.

And you can see just how fast he is in his wheels with this video on his foster mom Sandi’s Facebook page.

Want to bring Sammy into your life?  He is available for adoption!!

Stay tuned to meet Cricket soon!

Sammy’s wheelchair paid for courtesy of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund and custom made by Eddie’s Wheels for Pets.

Davey Living the Good Life – Even in His Dog Wheelchair

Davey Living the Good Life - Even in His Dog Wheelchair.
Davey taking a rest after a hard day of play

I love getting updates from dogs that I’ve been able to help grant a wheelchair to through the Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

Yesterday I heard from sweet, little Davey. He’s been spending lots of time on the beach with his favorite new banana toy.

All that fresh air, rolling through the sand, and playing with his toy has him zonked out at the end of the day.

Life is good for Davey and this makes my heart very, very happy.

Keep on rolling Davey!

And speaking of helping dogs! Three more dachshunds are currently having their wheelchairs custom made by Eddie’s Wheels for Pets!  The Frankie Wheelchair Fund, in conjunction with The Smoothe Store and their donation to the fund, is enabling us to help these wonderful little dogs. Stay tuned for photos!

Dear Joie…

Dear Joie

Dear Joie,

I remember the day I held you for the first time in my arms.

I fell to my knees when I saw Linda, a volunteer with Oregon Dachshund Rescue, carrying you to me in that bright yellow Southwest Carrier.

Cupping your petite, soft face in my hands as you popped out through the zipper, my heart burst into a million emotions.

You made my heart feel home once again to love another dog after the loss of another.

And then it took me some time to understand why you had to leave again so soon – ten months later.

But I see the gifts today, of which, there are many.

And today, I held a copy of the movie that arrived in the mail – of which you played a part.

My heart bursts again for the sweet love you were, and will always be, captured in this film.

A sweet memory that makes my heart feel home again for having had the experience of loving you.
