Come Meet Sammy! Granted a Wheelchair from The Frankie Wheelchair Fund (and available for adoption!)

Come Meet Sammy! Granted a Wheelchair from The Frankie Wheelchair Fund (and available for adoption!)

Can you say cuteness overload? Sammy’s one ear cocked to the side really gets to my heart as it reminds me of how Gidget’s one ear does the same thing.  As if she has a wire in her ear!

I learned about Sammy from Sarah of The Smoothe Store, who was instrumental in helping raise funds this past September for The Frankie Wheelchair Fund- raising $3,500!  Woo hoo!

With the help of Sarah and money raised, we were able to help Sammy currently with Dachshund Rescue of South Florida with a wheelchair.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Sammy is oober happy in his brand new shiny wheels!  Seeing faces like Sammy just sends oodles of love to my heart.

And you can see just how fast he is in his wheels with this video on his foster mom Sandi’s Facebook page.

Want to bring Sammy into your life?  He is available for adoption!!

Stay tuned to meet Cricket soon!

Sammy’s wheelchair paid for courtesy of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund and custom made by Eddie’s Wheels for Pets.

Meet Douglas – Granted a Wheelchair through The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

Meet Douglas: Granted a Wheelchair through The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

Douglas is the 43rd dog to receive a wheelchair from The Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

You just have to love a dachshund face, don’t you?

His mom, Kourtney, who works at a vet office, graciously adopted Douglas due to his previous owners who could no longer care for him.

Douglas does have a few other medical issues which Kourney is doing her best to get under control and give him a quality life.

According to the vet seeing Douglas she said, “Douglas is already bonding to Kourtney and wants to be next to her. Having a wheelchair for him will allow him to be near her as he wishes.”

Wish granted so that Douglas can live a quality life with someone who has his best interest at heart and doing all she can to give him a wonderful life.

I think I’m safe in saying that the readers here at Joyful Paws are cheering you on, Douglas!  Keep on rolling!

If you wish to support The Frankie Wheelchair Fund the anuual campaign is running for another 7-days with t-shirts being sold to benefit the fund (in collaboration with celebrating National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day on Sept. 22.) We are currently at 89 sold (thank you!!) and hope to reach 100 or more. This will provide a little over $1,000 to the fund if we hit 100.  Thanks for your consideration!

BlueBell Gets New Lease on Life with Wheelchair (courtesy of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund)

bluebell 2

BlueBell found her way to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue who reached out to The Frankie Wheelchair Fund for funding for a wheelchair for her.

We were happy to help give BlueBell a new lease on life. This makes 42 dogs the fund has been able to help so far!

Melinda, BlueBell’s first foster mom said at first BlueBell didn’t care for the wheelchair. This can be typical, but usually in no time at all, they are off and running once they get the hang of it.

As it was for BlueBell too, and especially after she figured out she could chase cats!  Which she did at Melinda’s and now does at her new foster home also with Tiffanie.  Look at that little stinker after the cat- cracks me up.

I’m happy to say that it looks likely BlueBell will have a forever home as soon as her belly heals from her recent spay. An application came in for her that looks like a good match.

But if you are considering adopting a special needs dog, just wanted to let you know that Little Paws Dachshund Rescue has another dachshund in need of a home.  Meet Cinni and learn more about her on their website.

As always I want to thank each and everyone of you who have contributed and who continue to donate to The Frankie Wheelchair Fund. Without you, helping these paralyzed dogs wouldn’t be possible.  It takes a special community and I’m grateful for each and everyone of you who are helping me with your kind and generous donations in making the lives of these dogs better.
