The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

Sparky Will Get His New Wheelchair.

871828_1387401662.6374Because of the support of contributions from others through The Frankie Wheelchair Fund, we are able to help dog’s with mobility issues with wheelchairs. Today I’m happy to share with you that we have helped another dog! Meet Sparky who needs new wheels because he keeps tipping over in his current wheelchair all the time. This is not good especially because he has IVDD.

He was $175 away from his goal this morning and we were able to donate and help him reach his goal! I LOVE when this happens! Keep on rolling, Sparky and thank you to everyone who helped to make this happen!

Sparky is also up for adoption through Chapman’s Dachshund Rescue.

Meet Colby: Another Recipient of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund

IMG_0674Perhaps you might have “met” Colby already if you are fans of Lovey Loaves Sanctuary as that is where Colby happily resides as one of the top chief ambassadors for pets with special needs.

I’ve admired the passionate work of Cheri and Ward Wells who run the special needs dog rescue for quite some time.  Colby is a very happy and active pup who is so busy keeping things in order and playing that his wheelchair broke one day!  Well, we can’t have that when one’s job is so very important and vital to things running smoothly at the sanctuary.

I’m happy to report that Colby is up and running and full speed and capacity now with his shining new wheels from Eddie’s Wheels and courtesy of the Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

I’ll be sharing two more dogs the Frankie Wheelchair Fund has helped in the near future.  This makes 17 dogs, because of the generous contributions from others, that we have been able to help live a happy, quality life. Thank you!  Thank you!

10/17/2013 update:  Grace asked me that I share this info with you:  “I will accept custom orders and personalization at no additional charge. I will match the colors/markings if they send me pictures, and put the doxie’s name around their collar. ” Cool, huh?

Grace has done it again!  Though I continue to be on sabbatical (will return to my blog early November), I just had to share this wonderful offer with you from a creative and talented lady with a big heart.

The sale of the first dachshund ring holder to sell will be donated to the Frankie Wheelchair Fund which helps paralyzed dogs in need of a wheelchair (learn more about the fund here). As you may already know, this fund was started in memory of my Frankie (known as the walk ‘n roll dog) in 2012. For six years Frankie helped me spread a positive message about dogs with IVDD and dogs in wheelchairs far and wide.  The fund has helped 16 dogs to date with wheelchairs who may have never otherwise had the chance to have one.

After the first sale, 10% of all other sales of the ring holders will also benefit the Frankie Wheelchair Fund as well.

Check them out today!  You can order them to your specifications and have one made just like the doxie love of your life.  No doubt these sweet little likenesses of your doxie’s will keep your rings safe — well, that is if they don’t wag their tails too fast!
