Thursday evening was a blast! I could not have even imagined how wonderful it would be. No doubt in my mind, Frankie and I were in our element talking with the children at Fairview school in Plymouth.
We were warmly welcomed by Krista, the PTO President. She presented John and I each with a corsage of flowers. How sweet! All of a sudden it was a Domino effect as one child saw Frankie, then another, then another, then another and so on. Pretty soon there was quite the crowd! I was pretty smart and had it all figured out. They were excited to see Frankie! I was filled with such joy to feel the endearing love from all the sweet faced little people. They were head over heels in love with the little dog with tires.
Inch by inch we moved forward trying to make our way to the gym. Each child wanted to “help” guide Frankie along the way. This was family read-in night, so the gym was littered with blankets and pillows and parents reading to their kids. A rocking chair was set up at the front of the gym for me to take a seat and begin my presentation.
As I did my selected reading I had to hold on tight to the tears of joy that wanted to flow. All the challenges Frankie and I faced when she was first hurt and here we were spreading our message of hope and inspiration. What a dream come true!
After the presentation I signed books to eagerly awaiting children. Each approached me with big, wide eyes telling me their name. They watched intently as I signed their Frankie book just to them. One of the parents after wards thanked me for writing the book and sharing Frankie’s story. Wow, did that feel good. It really does not get any better than this…. but I’m sure it will as we go to many other schools very soon! Four in April and one girl scout troop is scheduled to meet Frankie and I can hardly stand the anticipation! Wahoo!
