dogs in wheelchairs

Sneak Preview Just for You!

Dachshund framed print by BriannaThis Sunday, Sept. 21st I will be having an online auction for this sweet and beautiful artwork donated by artist, Brianna Brunsell. You may be familiar with her work through Silly Dog Magnets.

Brianna did this drawing in honor of all dogs in wheelchairs and was inspired by Frankie the Walk ‘N Roll Dog who she shared with me continues to inspire her. And yes, I wiped a tear from my eye when she told me this.

I love how the dog is seeing her reflection in the water as if to say, “yes, I am beautiful and strong, even though I may be in a wheelchair. But I am still me.” What a great lesson for all of us!

Money raised will benefit The Frankie Wheelchair Fund (helping paralyzed dogs in need of a wheelchair) in honor of the 3rd annual celebration and day of observance of National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day this Monday, September 22.

Medium used is copic markers. Limited edition print signed by Brianna. 10″x 8.25″ frame with etched glass giving the piece a shadow box effect.

Where: Online auction on our Facebook page National Walk ‘N Roll Dog Day.

When:  Begins Sunday, Sept. 21st and runs through 4:00pm Monday, Sept. 22nd at 4:00pm cst.

How:  Visit our Facebook page between Sunday and Monday and leave a bid in the comment section. Highest bid at 4:00pm cst will take home the beautiful artwork!  It will be shipped directly from artist, Brianna Brunsell.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to Brianna for offering this as a donation to help us raise funds for wheelchairs for disabled dogs.

Meet Davey: The 30th Dog Granted a Dog Wheelchair through The Frankie Wheelchair Fund

photo 2Another happy, happy day here at Joyful Paws headquarters! Meet Davey – the 30th paralyzed dog The Frankie Wheelchair Fund recently granted a wheelchair.

Davey was with Oregon Dachshund Rescue – but not for long before his new family came along to adopt him. And you know what is so great?  Davey has a new brother that looks just like him in that he too has wheels!

This is Mickey!

These two are in excellent care with their mom, BeBe who loves and adores these special dogs. I think she is pretty special too for not only caring for one, but now two!

Meet Princess & Lenny: This makes 29 Paralyzed Dogs Helped with a Wheelchair

princess 2 cWe are moving and shaking big time the happy dance today here at Joyful Paw Headquarters with two new dogs we get to share with you who are the recipients of a wheelchair courtesy of The Frankie Wheelchair Fund.

First, meet Princess. She is the 28th dog we’ve been honored to help! She is still getting used to her wheels, but doing a little bit better every day according to those that love her dearly. From her ears beginning to fly out to the side as in this photo, I’d say she is making great progress in learning that her wheels will take her anywhere she wants to go!

lennySecond, meet Lenny. Such a handsome fellow, wouldn’t you agree?

Here is what his owners had to say in an email to me:

We would just like to thank you again for Lenny’s awesome wheelchair. I really do not think we could thank you and this organization enough. The first day he was put in the wheel chair he didn’t really know what to do and once he realized he was actually able to get around by himself without dragging his body, we saw a light in his eyes that has been missing since his accident. Thank you all again for his opportunity to walk again. We are all forever grateful for your kindness. -Nakia and Jake

I also received notice that Davey’s wheelchair shipped yesterday so that will make 30 dogs helped because of The Frankie Wheelchair Fund… and we plan to keep on rolling!
